A New York Times and Times
of London best-selling author, Raymond Feist, writer of Magician, Silverthorn, and A Darkness at Sethanon, a three novel series
of The Riftwar Saga,
known as The Riftwar Cycle visited and lectured at
our school recently. Some of his other works include; the Empire Trilogy, Krondor's Sons, which comprises, Prince of the Blood, The Kings of Buccaneer, and Faerie Tale as a dark-fantasy isset in contemporary
America. After writing those, he wrote the Serpentwar Saga,
and The Riftwar Legacy series which is based in part on the hugely successful computer games set in his universe, Betrayal at Krondor and Return to Krondor.
On September 9th, being funny and casual, Feist
spoke to us about the process of becoming a writer, his inspiring authors,
favorite characters, his most prideful work and what
it is like to be famous doing what you love most. According to the author's own
words and advice for becoming a writer, the
most important aspect is to practice writing until
you reach the point you want, using your imagination to create your own world
and your own characters.
"If you want to play the piano, practice. If you want to be a good piano player, practice more. If you want to earn money playing the piano, never stop practicing."
